The Andrew Square Civic Associated met on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, and the first order of business was to welcome returning and new members. Next came the Boston Police Report.

Boston Police Report

Officer Sullivan reported all incidents since August, mainly consisting of Car B&E’s and drug activity.  The ASCA urged everyone to please make sure you do not leave valuables in sight and to lock your car doors!   The drug activity resulted in some arrests and the ASCA  thanked Captain Boyle, detectives and officers at C6 for all their hard work in the neighborhood.  REMEMBER…”SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING” and make sure you call 911!

Three Motor vehicle accidents also occurred.

ASCA, along with our elected officials and city departments are working on a safety plan.  Please stay tuned! Your input is important!!

State Representative-elect David Biele addressed the members and urged them to stay involved.

DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS:

10 Wendeller

Owner Malcolm Barber and architect Tim Johnson presented plans for a three-story building, five units with garage, to include 5 parking spaces, located on ground level.  Decks will be “tucked” into the front of the building, and there will be a roof deck with the sound barrier.

ASCA membership voted to support the development.

69 Preble Street

Currently a one-story commercial building (Mass Glass), owner Ryan Hunt presented his plans to erect a three-story, three unit building with parking on the ground floor.

Prior to the vote, several neighbors voiced their concern regarding the “OPEN” parking suggesting a garage door be installed for security and safety measures. Accessing garage was also a concern, as there is usually a car parked on the corner where they would enter.  A suggestion was made to put in a large permanent stone or metal planter that would match the aesthetics of the building. This would eliminate that spot and create easier access to the garage.

ASCA membership voted to support the project ONLY if they installed garage doors and planter.  The owners were contacted and agreed to those recommendations.
